I...Yes, the smell is the very essence of Christmas. I think you're right: they did originally include meat as well. Maybe the sweet of the fruit helped disguise the taste if the meat was a bit off - yuck! So glad to live in a land of plenty with refrigeration and good food hygiene. I will leave you a message with my e-mail address and look forward to seeing the sox.
All the best and thanks for stopping by, BonnyBonny Bonafillahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17735110907048794437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8596160133778885210.post-43168960060343957472014-12-02T23:53:22.770+00:002014-12-02T23:53:22.770+00:00I am not a big mince meat / mince pie lover, but I...I am not a big mince meat / mince pie lover, but I do admit I love its smell, it's so Christmassy. :) Is it true that originally British mince pies always contained real meat too?
Sweet dreams, Bonny.Kiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11327411102238314117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8596160133778885210.post-39242953426831639482014-12-02T19:33:17.219+00:002014-12-02T19:33:17.219+00:00I knew it! Jam jar...I knew it! We are sisters under the skin.
Jam jars is only the tip of the iceberg. The glas Patak curry sauce jars are brilliant too, and of course, I have a passion for Evian bottles. Seeing that I drink nothing else, even for coffee and tea, we have thousands of them, I use them for so many things. You'd be surprised.
Where can I find your email address so I can invite you to myjoanna ukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18384148993585680645noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8596160133778885210.post-80677543189207333782014-12-02T09:24:27.436+00:002014-12-02T09:24:27.436+00:00Thank you. What a great idea to bake in coffee tins. I'm all in favour of up-cycling. My principal obsession at the moment is glass jam jars. I just can't throw those babies out. I'd love to see your sox. I'm going to do a post about Emi's, but I keep Bonny Bonafillahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17735110907048794437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8596160133778885210.post-83860707203158859902014-12-02T08:04:54.094+00:002014-12-02T08:04:54.094+00:00Your pictures are great. It looks like walnut.
We're not lovers of mincemeat but your post made me unmearth my recipe for Xmas cake, which has many of those ingredients in. I used to bake it in coffee tins, to get round slices.
Want to see my sox?
joanna ukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18384148993585680645noreply@blogger.com
