The coniferous ghosts of Christmas past ...

There's nothing that shouts the party's over any more definitively than a heap of abandoned Christmas trees waiting sadly for the bin men to come and collect them.

And they're dotted all around Ealing Common this morning as residents drag out the bedraggled remains of Christmas past to be wood-chipped and fed back into the merry old circle of life.

Bleuch! I'm not a big fan of January.

And it's cold and grey and miserable with high winds and rain promised by the weather forecast. Would anybody else out there like to hibernate until it's all over?

All the best for now,

Bonny x

  1. Here they take the used up trees and use them for ground cover at Bennington Lake for the wildlife there. I like that much better then chipping them up. If you ever watched the show (Friends) there was an episode where Phoebe was really upset about Christmas trees and the chipper machine. Check out this short YouTube clip of the scene.

  2. I hadn't seen that episode before. Poor Phoebe. I feel a bit sad too about all those trees are being chipped. It seems a bit of a waste. I guess they made people happy over the holidays, but even so ... . All the best and thanks for dropping by, Bonny
