January blues banished ...

I've been known to bleat on about how much I hate January. But you know it hasn't been so bad this year. I've been embracing January, enjoying its cold frosty days that have opened out into blue skies and sunshine. I've enjoyed getting the big coats out of the closet, muffling up in multiple layers of woolliness, snuggling indoors in front of the fire and tucking into winter comfort food - stews and soups and curries and cakes - with gusto.

The WonderDog and I go for a trot round Walpole Park most mornings. And this past week it's been a winter wonderland. Some days we've had amazing fog, that's slowly lifted as the sun came out.

Other days it's been s-o-o-o-o cold. We've felt the frosty breath of mid-winter chill the marrow in our bones. The WonderDog is a total softy: he shivers like a jelly when the mercury drops to single figures, and totally refuses to come out if it's within trembling distance of zero.

But all things told it's been very beautiful and dramatic at that early hour when we're in the habit of perambulating.

Hope you've got the January blues beaten too!

All the best for the weekend,

Bonny x

  1. Oh, Bonny, your shots are wonderful. You framed that first one just right...makes me feel like I can almost step into that scene. We have had mostly gray, dreary days. I can handle winter better if we have more sunlight...I try to enjoy just snuggling in and not having to mow the yard but at times it is hard to do.
