I've finally succumbed to the whole fit-watch thing, and bought myself a wristwatch that will count my paces as I go about my workaday life. It tells me that I need to walk 10,000 paces every day to stay fit and healthy. I started on Monday expecting that I'd be way behind the batting on that average. But it turns out that I'm leading a pretty active lifestyle, and it's really not been a problem getting all those steps stepped.
My faithful hound, however, is beginning to wilt. He's developed a taste for sofa-surfing when my cheerful walkies! call to action rings out around the house. Not another bloomin' walk ...
And I've taken to dyeing my own colourways. I started off the other morning with some acid dyes and a few skeins of 4 ply sock wool. My grand plan was to dye some variegated yarn with a solid contrast for the heels, cuffs and toes.
The sun was shining, and I set up shop outside on the terrace.
It's a real effort to not allow yourself to get carried away with all those wonderful splishy sploshy colours. I had a clear understanding that neither my flagstones nor my teak table would look good in a new, random tie-dye colourway, so I went in heavy with plastic table cloths and clingfilm.
And luckily most of the dye stayed on my yarn.
It was a really fun morning, and now I have the satisfaction of casting on a pair of socks in my own, totally unique, colours. Happy days!
Wishing you all the best for the weekend,
Your yarn dyeing looks great. Loved the dog, that would be me (if I had a choice). It's good you are so active.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful autumn sunshine photos, Bonny. What a lovely angry doggie! I love your dye yarn, my friend. You are so creative!
