A very big shout-out to all our mums! Happy Mother's Day!
I've just made this lace scarf in a sumptuous fingering weight cashmere/ silk yarn that a supplier sent me as a sample. It was a delight to work with: lovely sheen and all the gossamer lightness of a spider's web. I cast it off on Thursday, blocked it overnight and posted it to my mum on Friday morning. And, thankfully, it arrived just in time - phew!
I love the challenge of lace knitting; it's really not something you can do with one eye on the television. This baby demanded all of my concentration, and then some. Every time I got distracted I got the count wrong or messed up a k2tog with an ssk on the graph. Argh! In the end I put in a lifeline each time I knew that I'd got a pattern repeat repeated correctly, so the fabric looked like some sort of crazy fringed mad thing.
Anyway it was a lesson in patience and stoicism and I got there in the end. Go me!
All the best for now,
Bonny x
